Job Title: Rodman Job Description Assist in the transportation and handling of locating equipment to and from job sites. Support the testhole foreman by capturing images of measure downs, utility sizes, and pavement thicknesses for test holes. Perform levels and complete level notes to the top of exposed utilities prior to backfilling. Responsible for backfilling, compacting, and patching excavated testholes, as well as cleaning and restoring the work area daily. Responsibilities + Assist designator in carrying locating equipment to job site and back. + Support testhole foreman in taking pictures of measure downs, utility sizes, and pavement thicknesses. + Perform levels and complete level notes before backfilling testholes. + Backfill, compact, and patch the excavated testholes. + Clean and restore areas prior to leaving the job site daily. + Ensure utility designation and location tasks are performed safely and in accordance with contract documents. + Collect and download project data to meet quality control protocols. Essential Skills + Willingness to learn and follow directions with a strong focus on quality data collection. + Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. + High interest in land surveying. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with total station or AutoCAD is preferred but not required. + Familiarity with land surveying, utility locating, location services, and location mapping software. + 0-3 years of field experience is beneficial. + General labor and GPS experience. Work Environment Work is conducted outdoors and requires reporting to the Party Chief/Field Coordinator. The role involves assisting in survey tasks safely and effectively, in accordance with contract documents and company policy. The position does not require overtime, but opportunities for additional hours are available if desired.
