Job Description
We are seeking hard-working and career-driven individuals to join our survey crews as a Rodman. In this role, you will assist the Crew Chief in completing assigned field surveys, ensuring the timely and accurate collection of data.
ResponsibilitiesTransmit survey data to the proper files in the computer network and acquire data for field use.Accurately clear lines, establish points, tape, chain, and level for field survey projects as assigned by the Crew Chief.Maintain the crew's vehicle by keeping it clean, properly stocked, and reporting any mechanical or safety-related issues.Load, clean, and store field surveying equipment used by the crew.Communicate and coordinate effectively with crew members to facilitate timely project completion.Observe all safety guidelines, especially when working around traffic or active construction sites.Identify various types of trees encountered during field survey work.Assist in training entry-level rodmen as requested.Cut and clear brush and trees from the line of survey.Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, using tools, climbing, balancing, and lifting up to 50-75 pounds.Support SUE work by performing heavy labor, including using a jackhammer, digging, setting up sites, operating vacuum trucks, and site clean-up.Essential SkillsExperience in construction, manual labor, and landscaping.Ability to learn surveying techniques.Experience working outdoors in Florida's elements.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.Willingness to perform heavy labor.Ability to work in extreme heat and weather conditions.Valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR check.Previous utility locating or survey experience is a plus.Work Environment
The role involves working in 2-3 man crews outdoors in Florida's extreme weather conditions. The typical day starts at 6 am, with work at the site until approximately 4-5 pm, including overtime paid at 1.5x. Regular breaks are provided. Out-of-town work is required, with travel and potential overnight stays from Monday to Thursday, returning on Friday. Lodging and per diem are provided.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
