Robotics Product Lead

This position will lead a team to develop innovative process and technological solutions to solve real-world manufacturing problems related to cost and quality. This role is a leadership opportunity where you will be expected to lead the point of view on robotics at Ford, including leading technology such as AI-enabled robots, bi-manual robots, collaborative robots, vision systems, and humanoid robots. You will focus on developing strategy and delivering tangible enablers in a hands-on and highly engaging environment. Collaboration with various plant and skill teams will be paramount in successfully implementing projects, so a dynamic, self-driven, and highly collaborative individual is sought for this great opportunity to lead the way in establishing the future of manufacturing at Ford.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

BSc, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical OR a related field) OR equivalent experience (10+ years in Mfg Automation Eng). 5+ years of leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to lead technical teams. 5+ years of technical engineering development experience, with a focus on automation and robotics. At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. A strong interest in and understanding of emerging technologies in robotics

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in developing and launching manufacturing processes, equipment specification, and installation. Proven project management experience. Experience developing custom tooling and automation systems. Experience leading cross-functional teams in a creative and innovative environment. Knowledge and experience with Ford Production Systems and standards. Experience with programming cobots, industrial robots, PLC, and vision systems.

What you'll do:

Drive reimagined manufacturing processes and develop the technology and solution enablers. Lead a team of engineers to develop novel automation processes and improve the efficiency of existing automation lines across Ford's manufacturing operations. Drive the development of new automation opportunities, from idea, proof-of-concept, pilot to implementation. Lead the point of view on robotics and automation technologies, including AI-enabled robots, bi-manual robots, collaborative robots, vision systems, and humanoid robots. Oversee the delivery of tangible automation enablers that improve cost, quality, and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Global Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planning and Logistics, and plant operations, to ensure successful project delivery. Benchmark new advanced technologies and develop supplier partnerships to deliver manufacturing solutions. Teach, coach, and mentor employees, peers, and leadership; document technical knowledge and establish standards. Provide technical leadership to assess the capability of a technology, assure the delivery of system performance, and utilize project management skills to achieve desired timing.
