Join our team as a Roadway Monitor where you'll play a vital role in overseeing contractor operations, ensuring roadway maintenance and construction meet contract specifications, and supporting field operations. We have opportunities throughout Virginia.\n

Responsibilities:\n\nOversee contractor performance for roadway maintenance, construction, traffic control, and emergency response; ensure compliance with contracts and manuals.\nAccurately prepare and review documentation covering contract activities, worked performed, quantity and cost of work, progress, pay estimates, daily logs, compliance reports and safety evaluations, etc. \nEnsure the contractor meets work zone safety and other safety requirements during maintenance operations.\nAssist in storm cleanup, accident response, snow\/ice removal, and other emergency operations.\nProfessionally communicate with contractors, public and utility companies. \nProvide on-site guidance, participate in hands-on training, and assist supervisors with project data and reporting.\n\n

Qualifications: \n\nKnowledge of roadway maintenance, construction, and inspection practices.\n5+ years of experience in Roadway Monitoring for service transportation related contracts preferred.\nKnowledge of highway maintenance specs, work zone safety, traffic control standards, erosion, and sediment control. \nExperience ensuring compliance of contract specifications and daily report writing.\nKnowledge of state and agency policies as they relate to quality workmanship and materials in maintenance contracts.\nStrong attention to detail and ability to analyze field data.\nEffective written and verbal communication.\nVDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control preferred.\nProficient in Microsoft Office \nMust be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion. \nMust have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights with adequate vision to perform tasks\nAbility to work outside in various weather conditions \nValid Driver's license with good driving record and ability to drive\n\n
