Lead Roads Engineer | Help Shape the Future of New Zealand’s Transport Network

What’s the mahi?

We’re looking for a practical thinker and experienced engineer to lead the delivery of roading projects that make a real difference. As a Lead Roads Engineer, you’ll bring technical depth and design know-how, but more than that, you’ll bring the ability to turn complex challenges into smart, buildable solutions that deliver value for clients.

You’ll guide a team of engineers and designers through the successful delivery of highways and infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on quality, detail, and managing change with confidence.

There’s the opportunity to be part of some of the most exciting and city-shaping transport projects in Aotearoa, working as a trusted consultant to major transport agencies.

You’ll thrive in a modern, flexible work environment, collaborating with industry-leading professionals both locally and across our broader network. You’ll work on technically interesting and complex projects that challenge conventional thinking and create space for innovative solutions.

As part of our high-performing Infrastructure team, you’ll have access to meaningful learning and development opportunities that support both your career growth and the impact you make.

What you’ll do:

Lead the design and delivery of civil and road infrastructure projects

Deliver, review and approve design packages and technical documentation including drawings, specifications and reports in accordance to client standards

Oversee modelling and drafting activities to support accurate, efficient design outcomes.

Manage the financial and technical aspects of projects

Work across all phases of the project lifecycle, from studies and concept design through to construction support.

Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and professional engagement.

Support the ongoing development of team capabilities and foster a collaborative environment.

What you’ll bring:

A passion for shaping the future of infrastructure and a mindset of continuous learning.

Solid experience in road design and civil infrastructure, with a sound understanding of relevant local standards.

Proven skills in leading technical teams and communicating technical requirements across teams.

Confident client-facing skills, with the ability to maintain trusted relationships and manage expectations.

Chartered status (CPEng) or eligibility to apply.

A relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering.

What’s in it for me?
