Provides direct nursing care to the residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing staff in accordance with current federal, state, and JCAHO regulations.
Responsibilities Coordinates total nursing care for assigned residents. Assesses resident conditions, including physical, behavioral, psychosocial, developmental and age specific plans according to identified problems in a cost effective manner.Directs LPN's and CNA's on a daily basis, including scheduling, supervising, evaluating, counseling, and daily operations.Teaches, supervises and counsels the residents/family and caregivers regarding long term care procedures, residents' rights, and other care needs as appropriate to the resident's condition.Develops and prepares the individual's plan of care, utilizing RAI guidelines in accordance with state, federal, and JCAHO regulations.Performs duties based upon established standards of practice for adults and geriatricsDCH Standards:
Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee HandbookMust adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet. Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.All other duties as assigned. QualificationsMust be a registered nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the state of Alabama. High School diploma or equivalent required. Sufficient previous clinical experience. CPR certification up-to-date. Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Computer skills required for general knowledge of facility computers. Demonstrates communication skills for all population served. Positive attitude toward the elderly.
