About the Role:
As aSubstance Use Disorder (SUD) RNon our Behavioral Health Services team, you’ll work alongside licensed mental health professionals and experienced nurses, playing a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients battling substance use challenges.
Your Impact:
In this role, you will:
Serve as a consultant to physicians and fellow nurses in the care of patients with substance use disorders.Conduct thorough substance use assessments and evaluate patients for withdrawal risks.Recommend and collaborate with MDs on effective withdrawal management strategies.Utilize motivational interviewing and other techniques to engage patients in their treatment journey.Provide direct care, observation, and management of SUD patients, ensuring their safety and well-being.Take a lead role in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, adjusting as needed to ensure positive outcomes.Handle the de-escalation of behavioral disturbances and manage crises as they arise.Educate and mentor nursing staff on best practices for managing detoxification and substance withdrawal.Act as a referral resource for all Scripps patients seeking treatment recommendations in the community.Join us at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, where your dedication will be celebrated, and your work will make a tangible difference in the lives of those facing substance use challenges. Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years of RN chemical dependency experience preferredCurrent CA RN LicenseCertified Addiction Registered Nurse- CARN – Must obtain within 1 year of employmentExcellent communication, problem solving and planning skillsBLS from the American Heart AssociationPreferred Qualifications:
Three or more years’ RN experience within substance abuseBachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)Certified Addiction Registered Nurse- CARNRequired Qualifications:
