Responsibilities The RN Skilled Nursing Director of Staff Development (DSD) is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive training and education programs to ensure clinical competency, regulatory compliance, and high-quality resident care. The DSD collaborates with nursing and facility leadership to assess training needs, develop curriculums, and delivers both classroom and hands-on training sessions. This role supports orientation for new hires, conducts ongoing staff competency assessments, and assists with the implementation of policies and procedures to maintain standards of care. Qualifications Education• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited School of Nursing required Experience• 2 years of experience as a licensed nurse required• 1 year of experience as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting required• One of the following is requiredo 1 year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs in nursingo Possess 24 hours of continuing education certificate(s) in planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs in nursing. The courses must be either approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or be administered by an accredited educational institution and the certificates must be obtained within six months of employment and prior to teaching in a training program Licenses and Certifications• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required• RN - Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California required• DSD - Certified Director of Staff Development required within 180 days of hire or transfer into position Disclaimers• Pay ranges listed are an estimate and subject to change.
