**SUMMARY OF POSITION:**
The primary purpose of the job/position is to play a vital role in ensuring care that is not only effective but also safe for every patient in the East Region.
Responsible to assess for patient safety issues, including investigation, cause analysis, and the associated improvement projects to advance patient safety and reduce risk. Manage a portfolio of patient safety projects, monitor and evaluate clinical processes for the safe delivery of care. Present to hospital leadership and partner with clinical areas to improve patient safety. Educate caregivers and staff in patient safety sciences and methodologies. Drives initiatives using evidence-based standards of care and standardization of processes to improve reliability of systems.
Accountable for medical staff peer review coordination to support medical staff clinical quality professional practice evaluation. Perform review of medical records based on established definitions for peer review for identified cases, including mortality review, and support the peer review process established in the medical staff bylaws.
The position will support mortality review process, mortality review monitoring cycle and mortality performance improvement cycle. Supports the evaluation of risk-adjusted mortality while considering observed versus expected mortality. This position will analyze commonalities between trends, patterns, and underlying causes of mortality across the East Region to elevate the quality of care for all inpatients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
+ RN License
+ Bachelor's degree in Nursing
+ Three (3) years of Nursing experience required
+ Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
+ Certification in Patient Safety preferred.
+ Two (2) years of progressive leadership or project management experience.
