RN - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) - Flex Option 12 - Critical Care Experience Required

Akron General's Transitional Care Unit is converting to a Level II Progressive Care Unit, where caregivers will be able to provide a new, higher level of intermediate care to our patients. The patient population in this unit will consist of non-invasive BIPAP, continuous pulse ox monitoring, insulin and cardiac/vasoactive GTTs, chronic trach ventilators, acute stroke patients, subarachnoid spinal drains, transvenous pacers and arterial waveform monitoring. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. For a full list of benefits, click here (https://jobs.clevelandclinic.org/benefits-2/) . + Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. **A caregiver in this position works either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday** **7:00PM - 7:30AM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Complete ongoing assessments. + Recognize significant changes in patient condition and respond appropriately. + Develop and update goals for identified problems. + Involve the patient/family (or designee) in developing a plan of care individualized to patient cultural, religious and educational needs. + Coordinate the interdisciplinary plan of care. + Serve as a patient advocate. + Safely administer patient care, medications and treatments. + Document legibly using concise terms, correct terminology and approved abbreviations. + Participate in on-going interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes and contribute to the improvement of care. + Delegate tasks/assignments to employees according to their ability and within the scope of their job. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing (ADN or BSN program) + Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within one year of hire + One year of current ICU or critical care RN experience in a hospital setting Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor of Science in Nursing **Physical Requirements:** + Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. + Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. + Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. + Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. + Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. + Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required **Pay Range** Salaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
