Logan Health has an opportunity for a PRN Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient Palliative Care Clinic team!

About our Palliative Care Clinic:

Our clinic provides relief from the symptoms and pain of serious illness, with a focus on improving quality of life. Our team of physicians and nurse practitioners primarily serves adults, with some pediatric patients, and also supports those in hospice, skilled nursing, or facing complex diagnoses like cancer.

Our Palliative Care Clinic is located at the Rock Building at 350 Heritage Way in Kalispell, Montana, within our Hematology/Oncology Clinic. Nestled in the heart of the Flathead Valley, Kalispell is a gateway to Glacier National Park, two ski resorts, and pristine Flathead Lake, offering endless year-round outdoor recreation.

What your day might look like:

As part of a collaborative care team, you will play a vital role in providing empathetic, high-quality support to patients and families:

Rooming patients and obtaining vital signs

Medication reconciliation and coordinating refills

Patient education and support

Handling patient calls and phone triage

Collaborating closely with physicians and nurse practitioners to coordinate patient care

An experienced RN with strong clinical assessment skills

Prior clinic, hospice, palliative care, home health, skilled nursing, or assisted living experience is preferred

Qualifications:

Current Montana RN License or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required.

Minimum of two (2) years’ nursing experience preferred.

BSN degree preferred.

Current HCP CPR certification required.

Current ACLS and PALS certification may be required in certain departments and successfully obtained within six (6) months of hire.

Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Job Specific Duties:

Performs patient assessment. Utilizes all available sources of information and incorporates the patient’s perception of illness. 

Develops an individualized plan of care for each patient and updates the plan throughout the visit as appropriate.

Consistently identifies safety issues concerning the patient and staff during visit.  

Independently reviews medication lists and provides ongoing medication or treatment education at the directive of physician or advanced practice provider.

Coordinates with healthcare team to provide continuity of care.

Participates in the development and delivery of education and competency validation of clinical staff.

Utilizes department Standard of Care and individualizes care provided on an on-going basis per department standards.

Administers medications per provider order.

Demonstrates a commitment to professionalism while undertaking and completing all department competencies.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Shift:

Day Shift - Variable Hours (United States of America)

Schedule: PRN. Shift hours can be 8 or 10 hours either from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. or 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Need for this position will generally be Friday coverage but could vary. This position will also assist with vacation coverage.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.  Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.

PRN positions (also referred to as Casual, As Needed, or Per Diem) at Logan Health offer flexibility and are designed to provide coverage during busy periods, employee absences, and vacations, making them an excellent opportunity to support the team as needed. PRN employees can participate in a matching 401(k) plan and have access to the Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, they may qualify for hourly differential pay for certain shifts or hours, offering extra compensation based on department-specific scheduling needs. Pay rates and scheduling practices may vary by department.
