Schedule: Full-time

Shift: Nights, 4/10-hour shifts; primary hours 5:00pm-3:30am; will be required to flex hours occasion for team meetings, professional development opportunities, and to meet the needs of the campus

Position Highlights:

NPD Practitioner will provide professional development and educational support to all inpatient and ED areas at night while serving as the primary NPD Practitioner for the CSR float pool department.

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions as they guide the learner toward desired outcomes. The NPD Practitioner continuously uses environmental scanning to intentionally assess opportunities and challenges within and externally to the organization, and identifies opportunities based on global and national healthcare trends, legislative changes, needs of collaborative partners, educational gaps, emerging technologies, and the clinical staff members desire for growth. The NPD Practitioner actively interacts with learners to contribute to nursing professional development processes and ensures the achievement of measurable outcomes, influences professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings.

The value youll bring to the team:

Orientation: Creates, plans, implements and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit/department. Monitors and reports compliance with required documentation for orientation. Evaluates unit/department orientation process based on health care trends, learning needs and organizational goals.

Research/Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)/Quality Improvement (QI): Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry, including identification of potential projects, and/or subject matter expertise. Demonstrates a spirit of inquiry to support professional curiosity including research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives using the organizations preferred structure, i.e. PDSA (plan, do, study, act). Works with others to identify problems and solutions and collaboratively create and assists in the implementation of the changes planned. Creates a supportive environment for nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. Disseminates evidence-based practice findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities

Professional Role Development: NPD Practitioner may assist others in their professional role development, practice role transitions, and succession planning. Assists staff to identify areas for individual growth, including opportunities for advancement. Provides resources for role transition. Promotes certification and advanced formal education.

Continuing Nursing Education: Designs engaging, interactive, state of the art educational activities/plans rooted in adult learning principles; implements and coordinates activities related to clinical practice and lifelong career development. Integrates regulatory standards to meet the requirements for continuing education contact hours, when appropriate.

The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed :

Minimum qualifications :

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Two years of nursing experience

Current, valid Florida State of Nursing license as a registered professional nurse

Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification

Advanced Life Support Provider Certification, per specialty

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel

Preferred qualifications:

Masters degree in nursing or related field

Prior experience as a preceptor/educator

Previous teaching experience in formal/informal settings

Experience in specialty area applying for

Certification as Nursing Professional Development Educator

Certification in clinical or educator specialty

Basic or advanced life support instructor, depending on specialty (Instructor certification overrides Provider certification)
