Job Summary
The Nursing Supervisor oversees hospital operations during off-hours, ensuring smooth clinical and administrative workflows in the absence of on-site leadership. This role provides real-time support to staff, coordinates patient care delivery, and acts as the primary liaison with on-call administration for critical issues.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate staffing and patient flow to support safe, efficient care.
Serve as a clinical and operational resource for hospital staff and physicians.
Respond promptly to emergencies or crises, ensuring optimal outcomes.
Maintain a high standard of customer service aligned with MercyOne’s mission and values.
Ensure HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
Support a safe work environment through proactive risk awareness.
Provide direct patient care when needed, using age-appropriate clinical judgment.
Participate in ongoing education and support team development.
Communicate and lead with integrity, compassion, and professionalism.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN required (or must be earned within 5 years). MSN preferred.
Current RN license in Iowa or approved compact state.
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience preferred, with 2 years in a leadership role (e.g., charge nurse).
Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in high-stress environments and resolve conflicts calmly.
