RN-Nurse Practitioner Palliative Medicine
Overview Job Summary The family, adult-gero, or acute care nurse practitioner is a professional nurse with advanced knowledge and assessment skills in a specialty are of palliative care. Duties will be performed to assist families with navigating the health care system, to foster seamless rather than fragmented care and to maximize quality of life for patients and their families with life-limiting, chronic illnesses. Duties to be performed in the inpatient and outpatient setting as needed. Demonstrates the role functions of nurse practitioner, consultant, educator, researcher, and leader/change agent. Able to assist with medical and symptom management of the patient. Contributes to nursing and the hospital through support of philosophy and objectives, educational efforts, research efforts, and leadership. Responsibilities + Develops a plan of care within scope of practice of the nurse practitioner utilizing written protocols to ensure quality patient care. + Uses prescriptive authority, procedures, referrals, treatments, and theories in accordance with state/federal laws and regulations. + Enhances quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. + Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues. + Provides clinical leadership. + Supports life-long learning. + Completes assigned goals. Specifications Experience Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Education Minimum Required + Either a Masters or Doctoral level as a nurse practitioner. Preferred/Desired Training Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Special Skills Minimum Required + Computer literate. Preferred/Desired Licensure + Current certification - nurse practitioner.
