Fairview Hospital’s 5 Pavilion Complex Medical Care and Telemetry unit has a dedicated team of caregivers that provide top-quality inpatient acute care to adults recovering from a wide variety of conditions, such as pneumonia, heart failure and chest pain, as well as monitor pre-operative and post-operative surgical patients. This unit prides themselves on teamwork and has been nominated for the Cleveland Clinic Nursing Team Excellence Award several times and won the award in 2015. As an RN on 5 Pavillion, you will participate in a residency core curriculum and provide direct nursing care, alongside a coach, in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.
A caregiver in this role works a day/night rotation from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with rotating holiday and weekend requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate.
Monitor and document patient's condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care and/or interventions.
Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Assess educational needs of the patient and significant others considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
Provide teaching and educational material as appropriate.
Validate and document patient and family understanding of teaching.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
One year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care settings
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Prior med/surg experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
