Position Overview:
Riley Children’s Hospital is seeking a dedicated RN Lactation Consultant II to join our team. This part-time role involves providing comprehensive infant feeding support and education to families both inpatient and outpatient. The ideal candidate will have experience working with NICU or postpartum populations, though this is not required. Certification as an IBCLC, CLC, or CBC is preferred but not required. This position will work onsite at our Simon Family Tower and Maternity Tower NICU, contributing to the advancement of our lactation services and program development.

Key Responsibilities: 

Deliver expert lactation support and counseling to families, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of feeding plans.Develop, promote, and implement lactation program initiatives and educational materials tailored for diverse audiences.Increase awareness of the lactation program within the hospital community.Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support patient care, mentorship, and teaching efforts.Participate in decision-making processes to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.Adhere to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses.

Qualifications: 

Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.Requires certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) or be certified within one year of hire.Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.Requires background working with childbearing families or maternal health nursing.
