RN Float -- Cardiovascular ICU Float Pool

Our Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Transplant and Device Units, J54 and J55, feature 26 patient beds. Both J54 and J55 specialize in caring for patients requiring ventricular assist device (VAD) implantation or receiving a heart and/ or lung transplant. Cleveland Clinic VAD program is recognized as one of the most experienced in the US. As an RN in the float pool, you will work alongside fellow caregivers providing care to patients who are cardiac and thoracic post op, such as Pneumonectomy and esophagectomy. This is an exciting opportunity to use your extensive skills and knowledge to provide exceptional care to patients. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills. **A caregiver in this position works 7:00 a.m. -- 7:30 p.m. OR 11:00 a.m. -- 11:30 p.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide direct nursing care. + Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans. + Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions. + Administer prescribed medications and treatments. + Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. + Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs. + Educate patients and their families. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing + Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) + Minimum one year current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care settings OR licensed military RN experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)  Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
