The Level II Trauma Emergency Department at Fairview Hospital specializes in various areas of patient care, including sepsis and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) services. As an RN in this unit, you will ensure patients receive the critical attention they need quickly. Your ability to offer empathy, compassion and reassurance can make a substantial difference in the lives of both your patients and their families. + Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.
**A caregiver in this position works varying shifts.**
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Provide direct nursing care.
+ Implement and monitor patient care plans.
+ Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions.
+ Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
+ Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
+ Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
+ External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience
+ Internal applicants with less than two years' experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval
+ Will consider military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). This will be required within one year of employment
+ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). This will be required within one year of employment
+ Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) or willing to complete within 24 months of employment

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
+ Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
+ Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
+ Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
+ Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
+ Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
+ Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
**Personal Protective Equipment:**
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
