Hillcrest Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) is the only Level II Trauma Center on Cleveland’s east side. The ED provides emergency services, ranging from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care. Every second counts in an emergency – as an RN in this unit, you will help ensure patients have the care they need quickly. All the while, your fellow caregivers will assist you, offering a cohesive, encouraging and constructive front to enhance the patient's experience and your skills as a nurse.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Provide direct nursing care. Implement and monitor patient care plans.  Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.  Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.  Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing  Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  External candidates: two years of recent related nursing experience  Internal candidates with less than two years of experience, but are post-orientation/90-day probationary period, may be considered with CNO level review and approval Licensed military RN experience will be considered  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of employment  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of employment  Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC – adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC – geriatric) completion upon or within two years of hire

Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
