Come be part of a new and innovative pre-operative team in the Orthopedic Clearance Clinic!

This RN will provide guidance and pre-operative education to our patients who will be having total joint replacements. This education will take place over the phone or in person depending on the patient's preference. There is opportunity to help this role grow and evolve with our busy clinic. This nurse will work independently while also being part of a team of experienced Orthopedic RNs.

This individual will work closely with 2 APPs who operate our PACE clinic (pre-operative, assessment, and clearance). This clinic offers pre-operative history and physicals that ensure the patients is ready for surgery. The nurse will manage incoming phone calls and messages regarding pre-operative questions from patients and Providers. They will document information provided to patients in the electronic medical record and will ensure an accurate medical record is maintained.

Schedule is Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with no weekends or major holidays.

Summary

Answers patient inquiries over the telephone, assessing the severity of the patient's symptoms and medical needs according to triage algorithms.

Job Description

Guides the patient to the appropriate level of care; schedules patient appointments over the phone with appropriate healthcare providers/facilities/physicians. Documents information provided to patients during triage in health record systems; records patients health conditions for follow-up patient care. Maintains and develops triage protocols; ensures patients' healthcare information is updated on time. Role does answer inquiries through multiple variations of technology, depending on department. Educate patients based on calls that come in.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

One year of healthcare experience preferred.

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Within first 30 days of employment, all requirements to obtain license needed for role is completed. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
