**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Trauma Program Director is a full-time position who works in concert with the Trauma Medical Director and hospital leadership to assure optimal trauma patient care services, quality outcomes, and compliance with local, state, and national standards for Trauma Center designation and verification
**What you will do in this role:**
+ Coordinates management across the continuum of trauma care, including the planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring of in-hospital patients, and serving as a resource for clinical practice
+ Collaborates with the Trauma program Medical Director in performing administrative functions, to include initiating, developing, planning, and evaluating activities of the Trauma Center's mission of providing optimal trauma care, as defined by the American College of Surgeons Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient and Trauma Center Standards, Florida Department of Health, Pamphlet 150-9
+ Monitor performance improvement activities in conjunction with Pl coordinator(s) and Trauma Medical Director
+ Assists with the coordination and implementation of the Trauma Quality Management Plan. Participates in case review and implementation and adherence monitoring of practice guidelines.
+ Monitors clinical processes, outcomes, and system issues related to the quality of care provided. Develops quality filters, audits, and case reviews to identify trends and events
+ Develops event resolution activities to address events with opportunities. Monitors and mitigates for future events.
+ Ensures that the Trauma Registry supports the Trauma Pl plan. Provides oversight of the trauma registry in partnership with the Clinical Data Registry Abstraction Operations Manager.
+ Collaborates and develops appropriate required clinical reports for the hospital, American College of Surgeonsl and the State of Florida as required.
+ Ensures Trauma Service compliance with regulatory agency standards, TJC AHCA
+ Ensures accreditation standards are met for Trauma Center verification. prepares for verification and re-Verification as a Trauma Center by maintaining, completing, and organizing supporting documentation such as Trauma Center application(s) and completing the site verification and designation visits
+ Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and functions well under stressful situations.
+ Provides for professional staff development and direct community trauma education and prevention programs.
+ Ability to identify staff learning needs; assist in planning and organizing orientation and in-service training for employees. Ensures attendance of employee at mandatory education.
+ Conducts yearly performance reviews of employees on a timely manner.
+ Communicates expectations to staff members (upon hiring, evaluation and reinforcing on an ongoing basis) and holding them responsible.
+ Monitors monthly operational expenditures for the Trauma Department and submits justification when exceeding budget.
+ Holds a minimum of 6 staff meeting per year and maintain minutes.
+ Maintains an open line communication with employees, physicians and administration. Conducts regular staff meetings and develop mechanisms to enhance communication. Serves as an internal resource for trauma for staff in all departments,
+ Assures that patient care documentation meets Joint Commission Standards.
+ Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education.
+ Evaluates patient care and patient satisfaction through communication with patients and physicians on a daily basis.
+ Makes or delegates daily patient care rounds to gain first hand information for problem solving.
+ Monitors assignments of staff to appropriate acuity level of patients daily with assistance from the Charge Nurses.
+ Investigates patient, visitor, employee and physician incidents and takes immediate action to resolve it, including follow up.
+ Attends and actively participates in management meetings and shares pertinent information with Charge Nurses and staff.
+ Ensures confidentiality of information pertaining to patients, staff and hospital business.
+ Performs and directs well under stressful conditions (ie. codes, increased unexpected admissions, increased unit activities)
+ Fosters teamwork and builds mutual understanding, respect and confidence among nursing personnel and between other departments. 20.Encourages nursing personnel to participate on hospital and/or nursing committees.
+ Participates with internal and external disaster management planning, Serves as a member of the hospital Disaster Management Committee
+ Develops an open, positive rapport with surrounding Fire Rescue/EMS Systems. Liaison between the EMS system and the Trauma Department/Hospital. 24Aware of the Trauma Department care standards and standards within the community. Demonstrates trauma patient advocacy through the use of data and informational findings to develop measurable patient care and injury prevention initiatives Serves as a liaison to hospital administration and represents the trauma program on various hospital·, local, state, and national committees to enhance and foster optimal care management. Monitors and upgrades the Trauma Department in order to stay in step with the constant changes in Trauma standards and healthcare.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Current Florida license as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
+ Bachelors Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
+ Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Course for Nurse (ATCN) certification or must be obtained within 6 months of employment start datee
+ Maintains 36 hours -Of trauma-related continuing education (CE) during the verification cycle for ACS Centers
+ Minimum 3 years of professional nursing experience in an inpatient critical care or trauma nursing area or trauma intensive care unit
+ Background in trauma system management essential
