RN Coordinator/Clinical Reviewer

Salary Range: $48.11 - $66.31
Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.
Position Summary:
+ The responsibility to collect and submit accurate, complete, and timely data to registries to include MBSAQIP, Robotics, Blue Distintcion and others as needed. This task is accomplished through high-quality data compilation, documentation, and entry of procedures performed at LVMC directly to the relevant registry.
+ Works closely with the members of Nursing Leadership and Surgery department to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects that may be identified.
+ Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.
+ Remains flexible to changing systems.
+ Treats patients, families, visitors, peers and physicians with consideration and respect.
+ Works well under stress or with tight deadlines.
+ Communicates concerns appropriately using the established chain of command.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Data collection and Reporting.
+ Must work effectively with hospital, clinic, and individual surgeon office staff.
+ Maintains ability to perform clinical competencies and reviews annually.
+ Demonstrates the knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
+ Can interpret data about the patient’s status to identify each patient’s age specific needs and to provide the care needed appropriate to the patient’s age group.
+ Demonstrates the ability to function as a team member.
Essential Functions:
+ Must have clinical knowledge to collect data and identify opportunities for improvement.
+ Ability to learn and utilize new software and web applications for data entry and report generation.
+ Must have the ability to track health information through various sources.
+ Must have the ability to identify opportunities to report metabolic and bariatric data to relevant groups or meetings.
+ Must have the ability to share information across functions.
+ Identities patients for inclusion in relevant registry to include, but not limited to MBSAQIP, Robotics, and Blue Distinction registries.
+ Duties may include collection of preoperative, intraoperative, 30-day postoperative, and long-term follow-up data components for the program through the effective utilization of the hospital medical record systems and through a coordinated effort with individual surgeon office staff.
+ Identifies streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process.
+ Demonstrates appropriate utilization of resources necessary to obtain valid, reliable data for entry into the registry.
+ Utilizes software applications for data collection and analysis.
+ Responsible for the accurate, complete, and timely entry of data into the registry.
+ Establishes effective working relationships with members of the hospital community, especially staff in the surgery, medicine, nursing, and medical records, and information systems departments and individual bariatric surgeons’ offices whose support is necessary for the management and success of the program.
+ Serves as an educational resource on the registry for internal and external audiences by developing educational materials and delivering presentations.
+ Successfully completes the online MBSCR Training Program, as needed.
+ Participates in program meetings and teleconferences.
+ Must have the ability to manage data entry deadlines and the Center’s accreditation process, as necessary.
+ Must have the ability to perform multiple computer programs.
+ Must have the ability to keyboard.
+ Must have the ability to function as a team member within the department.
+ Attends department meetings or obtains information through email. Provides input when needed.
+ Demonstrates ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients, visitors, and physicians.
+ Accepts appropriate supervision.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
+ Education: Current California license as an RN. BSN Preferred.
+ Experience: At least 3 years’ acute care experience with demonstrated leadership abilities.
+ Certifications: BLS. Obtain and maintain Clinical Reviewer certification from MBSAQIP within 12 months of hire (preferred).
+ Skills/Ability: Excellent clinical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills required. Exhibits the ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy. Exercises good judgment, demonstrates initiative, emotional stability, tact, and poise.
