Summary

Work very closely with the Clinical and Administrative Lead in the oversight of patient admissions and transfer activity while monitoring bed/patient care capacity both currently and prospectively.

Job Description

Responsible for facilitating continuous throughput of patients from all points of entry using effective verbal and written communication; must be able to make efficient, effective clinical decisions; and coordinate and deploy ancillary services to needed areas. Recognize the need for assistance from the Clinical and Administrative Lead to remove barriers or elevate problems as appropriate. Ability to be flexible, able to prioritize multiple tasks at one time. Effectively manages conflict and stress. This position requires a thorough understanding of Sanford Bemidji nursing units.

Other duties expected within this role include, but are not limited to: rounding on departments to communicate with the clinical leaders, physicians, patients/families, and other healthcare team members ensuring quality of care issues are addressed. Current knowledge related to departmental policies and each department's clinical practice. Must have current understanding of regulations and scope of practice for various roles. Offer assistance with patient assessments, admissions, or other nursing tasks as appropriate to circumstances.

Qualifications

Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.

Minimum three years of critical care nursing experience. Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements. Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility.

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
