Position Summary: Assists professional staff by performing duties in caring for patients as directed by Provider, manager, or designee. Functions as an effective team member in accordance with Guthrie’s values and service standards. This position is an integral part of the Gastroenterology department serving as a main point of contact for all clinical issues. This nurse will be a clinical RN responsible for monitoring and implementing nursing workflows, coordination of patients, triaging emergency calls and patient education. This position will be responsible for collaborating with the department director daily on establishing and meeting performance metrics.
Education, License & Cert: RN in the State of Practice. Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering simple medical treatments and related patient care. Maintains current CPR and other certificates as required.
Experience: Prefer at least 3 years RN experience. Coordinator experience also preferred.
Essential Functions: 1. Triages phone calls and EGuthrie messages by obtaining additional information to determine acuity and direct patients care/concern appropriately (i.e. message to MD, office visit or ED). 2. Review pathology results, GI procedures reports, imaging studies and lab results to ensure treatment plan follows care standards. 3. Compose result letters for pathology, laboratory and imaging studies based on the provider findings and recommendations. 4. Coordinates infusion therapy, procedures and treatments for the patient with other departments. 5. Administers prescribed injections/immunizations/medications and records this in the patients EMR. Knowledge of all medicines, side effects, treatment of and the clinical practice of the department.
Other Duties: 1. As assigned as appropriate for RN licensure.
The pay range for this position is $37.50 - $53.05 per hour.
