 The Adult Ambulatory Oncology Clinic at OHSU Center for Health and Healing, Building 2 (CHH2) serves patients within Medical Oncology, Hematologic Malignancies, Cellular Therapy, Gynecologic Oncology, Palliative Care and Classical Hematology. We collaborate with Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Infusion services, Dietitians, Pharmacy, Social Work, Case Management and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team to provide exceptional oncology care for our patients and community.

 

This position works with solid tumor patients within Medical Oncology

Function/Duties of Position

The Registered Nurse Coordinator is a key member of a multi-disciplinary patient care team, which includes providers, residents, fellows and other clinical support staff.  The RN Coordinator provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients seeking care at OHSU for Oncology services. They assess patient and family needs, assists in developing a plan of care, implements, educates, and evaluates the care delivered. The RN Coordinator serves as a key communication link between the patient, his/her family and the care team. The RN Coordinator is a continuous advocate for patients and their families, ensuring that clinical and business systems are customer service focused.  The RN Coordinator practices in accord with professional standards, core values and with a commitment to service excellence. The RN Coordinator reports to the Care Management and Coordination Manager in Ambulatory Oncology.

 

 

Department Specific Working Conditions:

Hybrid work schedule with variable 10-hour days Monday-Friday.Must be able to work in a busy clinic environment and prioritize duties with multiple interruptions throughout the day.Must be able to use medical and non-medical unit equipment required to perform essential functions of this position.

Required Qualifications BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date. Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hireCurrent, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse license AND Washington State Registered Nurse License within 6 months of hire.BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS must not expire during orientation or probation period, and must have the same expiration date (upload documentation with online application)

Washington RN license within 6 months of hireThree years of Hematology Oncology nursing experience within the past five yearsThe RN must have one of the following: Current OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification orComplete 36 cancer related continuing education nursing contact hours each accreditation cycle, per Commission on Cancer Additional Details

Length of Orientation – Experienced Nurse
