Description
The Automation Technician plays a key role in ensuring the availability, reliability, and efficiency of automated systems within our IST2 Fulfillment Center. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of automation and control systems, including PLCs, sensors, conveyors, and machineries. The technician will work closely with engineers and other RME teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and minimize downtime.
Key job responsibilities
Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on automation systems (PLCs, SCADA, HMI, sensors, etc.)
Support preventive and corrective maintenance on control panels, automation components, and field instrumentation.
Collaborate with engineers and other teams to implement process improvements and automation upgrades.
Assist in root cause analysis for automation-related failures and develop corrective action plans.
Document all work performed in the CMMS system, including parts used and time spent.
Participate in commissioning and start-up of new automation projects and equipment.
Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and standards.
Basic Qualifications
Technical degree or diploma in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with industrial automation systems.
Solid understanding of PLCs (Siemens, or similar), sensors, and motor controls.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and automation schematics.
Proficient in using diagnostic tools and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or on-call as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in high-volume manufacturing, logistics, or energy facilities.
Hands-on experience with PLC systems
Knowledge of safety systems (e.g., E-stop circuits, safety relays, SIL-rated devices).
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
