Risk Subject Matter Expert

Mercer is seeking candidates for the position of Risk Subject Matter Expert.

We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Mercer Risk Management team as the Risk Subject Matter Expert. This role will be based in either Melbourne or Sydney. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office and is also a Fixed Term Contract position.

In this pivotal role, you will leverage your deep Line 2 risk expertise to support the review and enhancement of policies and frameworks within Mercer Super. You will play a key role in a regulator-mandated risk transformation program, designing and implementing uplifted policies and frameworks while fostering a culture of risk awareness across the organization.

We will count on you to:

Conduct design and operating effectiveness reviews of existing policies and frameworks, and draft updated frameworks and policies for approval.Provide expert input into risk management practices, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.Partner with business leaders to advise on governance, risk, compliance obligations, and emerging risks, while supporting risk and control assessments.Support initiatives to enhance skills and capabilities related to governance, risk, and compliance across the business.Actively contribute to the development of frameworks, tools, and processes to effectively manage and forecast risks.

What you need to have:

University-level qualifications in business management or a related field.5-10 years of experience in a risk, compliance, or legal role, with a focus on superannuation regulation.Proven ability to operate within risk and compliance frameworks, with a strategic and commercial approach to compliance.Strong analytical skills to prepare reports on risk profiles, compliance plans, and regulatory requirements.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in providing information to Boards and Directors.
