Los Alamos Medical Center is a community Hospital located in the beautiful mountain community of Los Alamos, NM, surrounded by the powerful Jemez Mountains. This position reports to the Director of Quality and manages Risk activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. The candidate for this position should have data-driven performance improvement healthcare experience within an acute care hospital or healthcare system, should be self-motivated, and have proven communication skills, and the ability to influence leaders. They should have the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals at all levels to achieve established goals and improve quality outcomes, as well as knowledge of change management tools and ability to apply them to projects to reach desired outcomes.Coordinates, plans, and facilitates activities around monitoring, reporting, and identifying process improvement opportunities as measured by internal and external reporting programs such as Leapfrog, CMS, and TJC. This role coordinates concurrent and retrospective medical record review and data abstraction for Core Measures, external collaboratives, and other QI programs. The Quality Program Specialist collaborates with leaders, process owners, and hospital committees to share and implement best practices leading to optimal outcomes and continuous education of robust process improvement within the hospital. Investigates, analyzes, documents, and recommends course of action on potentially compensable events, claims, and litigation,Implements claim handling actions, authorized by Administration.Works with attorneys and corporate Risk Management office to manage LAMC's Risk Management program to minimize facility loss.Collaborates with Quality to develop and maintain a system for regularly managing information relevant to the risk management program. Oversees the occurrence reporting process and prepares trends data for quarterly reports to Administration, Medical Staff, and Advisory Board.Performs risk assessments annually
This position coordinates project initiatives and meetings to achieve department/hospital specific goals. Applies quantitative and qualitative skills and ability to use statistics to evaluate and interpret data, summarize results, and make recommendations,Responsible for influencing effectively to create synergy, prioritize projects, set goals and action plans, and measure impact/improvement. Supports medical staff performance improvement initiatives, performs chart review studies for peer review processes. Abstracts/analyzes data from medical records for CMS Core measures. Ensures safe inpatient care by reviewing inpatient census and proactively inquiring about risks and interventions needed to prevent hospital acquired conditions. Responsible for staying abreast of inpatient/outpatient quality measures as changes come out. Ensures an optimal patient experience by rounding on patients.
Serves as a Patient Advocate and receives, investigates, and responds to complaints and grievances.
Requires:
Current NM RN licensure, or appropriate compact RN licensure to start.
Associate or Bachelors Degree in Nursing
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
Must have a minimum of two years experience in a Healthcare setting.
