Risk Management Specialist I-Loss Control

A Brief Overview

Identifies property and casualty exposures and provides risk management services to customers. Consults with policyholders and internal partners to reduce policyholder loss potential. Supports effective P&C underwriting with timely and accurate policy rating and risk information. Works under general supervision and guidance within specific limits and authority on assignments of larger size and higher technical complexity. Communicates and coordinates activities with other Risk Management staff and other departments, especially Underwriting and Claims, and with producers. All tasks are to be performed with the goal of achieving an underwriting profit and demonstrating Zenith's superior Ag property and casualty expertise.

What you will do

Ability to effectively evaluate medium to large Agricultural accounts for the purpose of assessing risk exposures and controls. Identify and evaluate the following property & casualty exposures: fire sprinkler systems, alarm systems, water supplies, hydrant systems for both private and public systems, commercial auto; and product liability. Facilitate and manage the account service plan development process; monitor service budgets; and coordinates the development of specialized customer reports, such as risk evaluation reports, service plans, mid-year reviews, and annual summary reports, etc. Service accounts will include a cross section of accounts that are more difficult and technically demanding to service. Serves as a regional resource servicing and controlling service on both single location and multi-location accounts. Identify and evaluate effectiveness of prospect and policyholder food safety programs. Evaluate effectiveness of prospect and policyholder safety programs and initiatives. Identify higher complexity engineering and/or administrative controls to reduce property & casualty loss potential. Develop ability to use analyze loss data to identify key trends and prioritize policyholder service needs. Develop risk management service plans and performs ongoing consultation to assigned service accounts. Develop and submit recommendations that reduce policyholder property and liability exposures. Influence policyholders to implement risk management recommendations. Build and maintain productive policyholder and agency work relationships. Prepare effective reports for policyholders and internal partners. Conduct effective investigation of larger property and casualty related incidents and losses. Coordinate risk management services for multi-location, single region policyholders. Conduct policyholder training primarily based on need. Market Zenith Agribusiness and the Risk Management department. Meet department standards for individual work quality, productivity, and time service. Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Work productively and harmoniously with others on a consistent basis. Respond positively to direction and feedback on performance. Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Qualifications

High School Diploma Or equivalent required Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training/experience in safety and health, risk management, science, engineering or related technical curriculum or equivalent combination of training/experience preferred. Multiple technical certifications and/or advanced degree required

Experience Qualifications

5+ Years risk management, loss control or safety and health experience required

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of property & casualty insurance; including basic understanding of underwriting and claims practices Effective communication, sales and presentation skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other common business software Ability to learn and use proprietary Zenith Agribusiness systems Ability to effectively operate mobile computer and communication devices Basic understanding of key performance measures for a property & casualty insurance carrier preferred Familiar with P&C insurance agent and broker operations preferred Possess skills in negotiation, exposure recognition and mitigation, safety program management, written and verbal presentations, program development Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and mentoring to other staff members, shows flexibility in technical approaches, and can effectively lead work groups Driver License in good standing

 

The expected salary range for this position is $117,227.26 - $146,534.08. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
