RF/Microwave Researcher
**Introduction** IBM Quantum is seeking talented researchers to join the quantum components team at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY to contribute to the development of advanced high-performance circuits for quantum computing systems. We focus on microwave circuit designs that enable the creation of differentiated solutions for Josephson parametric devices such as quantum limited amplifiers and isolators. **Your role and responsibilities** The successful candidate will contribute to the development of novel readout chains through the characterization of parametric Josephson junction devices. They will execute lab verification/characterization of novel parametric devices such as amplifiers, frequency converter and isolators, enabling model-to-hardware correlation for future design improvements. Through collaboration with team members, they will develop and implement novel measurement techniques for high-volume component screening of system hardware. We are looking for a team player with strong writing and presentation skills, who is able to create and communicate technical ideas, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate must be able to work successfully with a diverse and dynamic team of both operational and technical personnel, collaborate with team members, work independently, and take their own initiative. **Required technical and professional expertise** * Familiarity with cryogenic systems (dilution refrigerators, cryocoolers, liquid helium/nitrogen) * Experience with superconducting RF and low noise measurements, circuits and systems * Research and development of sophisticated RF calibration and measurements techniques, test fixtures and setups * Familiarity with a variety of test equipment, such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, data generators, power meters and frequency synthesizers. * Solid programming knowledge in Python/Jupyter notebooks * Data aggregation/visualization/analysis **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Understanding of Quantum device behavior and cryogenic circuit performance * Strong background in qubit-based measurements IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, caste, genetics, pregnancy, disability, neurodivergence, age, veteran status, or other characteristics.
