Revenue Senior Accountant
Role purpose:

The Revenue Senior Accountant is accountable for ensuring the accurate recognition and recording of income and receivables, including the preparation of relevant entries in the balance sheet and income statement.

Key Accountabilities

Present a reconciled accounting position for Deferred Revenue, Prepaid, Postpaid, and Other items in relation to our reference systems.

1. Voucher Management:

Have a thorough understanding of the end-to-end procedure for airtime voucher allocations through to billing (accounting).
Reconcile PPFE (Vodae) and VOMS (Scratch cards) allocations with invoices in Sage.
Reconcile the Sub General Ledger and General Ledger for airtime voucher invoices.
Identify and mitigate all risks associated with the allocation and billing procedures.

2. IN – GL Reconciliation:

Reconcile the accounting balance of Deferred Revenue with the system balance, maintaining a monthly variance of less than or equal to 1%.
Maintain regular contact with Revenue Assurance for investigations when reconciliation discrepancies arise.
Present accounting evidence (all reconciliations at the FinOps level) and, if necessary, propose accounting entries to correct or improve the reconciliation.

3. Outgoing Revenue Reconciliation:

Accurately record CBU & EBU revenue as published by Billing and justify any discrepancies, including additional or extra billing entries.
Provide accounting explanations for variations in revenue accounts and contribute to identifying business-related causes in collaboration with Business Partners (BPs).
Maintain and share monthly CBU & EBU reconciliations with FinOps and relevant departments.

4. Incoming Revenue Reconciliation:

Accurately record Interconnection & Roaming revenue and costs as published by Billing, and justify any discrepancies, including additional or extra billing entries.
Provide accounting explanations for variations in revenue accounts and contribute to identifying business-related causes.
Maintain and publish monthly Interconnection & Roaming reconciliations for FinOps and collaborating departments.

5. Reconciliation of Customer and Vodashop Accounts:

- EBU: Postpaid Clients, Expenses, and Tests

• Continuous analysis, matching, and reconciliation of accounts with clear transaction descriptions to identify their nature. Close collaboration with Credit Control and TCM is required.
• Prepare relevant analytical reviews (monthly and annual variance analysis) and balance sheet reviews.
• Maintain aged balances for postpaid clients and a Risk Register.
• Collaborate with other sections (P2P and Credit Control) to determine the total debt of a Super Dealer (SOA).

- Interconnection and Roaming Partners

• Continuous analysis, matching, and reconciliation of accounts with clear transaction descriptions. Close collaboration with TCM is required.
• Prepare relevant analytical reviews (monthly and annual variance analysis) and balance sheet reviews.
• Maintain monthly aged balances for partners.
• Keep partner account statements up to date to clearly identify outstanding items.
• Collaborate with P2P and Credit Control to determine the total debt of a partner (SOA).
• Collections and Follow-ups: Identify all unpaid amounts and take appropriate actions to recover receivables from Interconnection and Roaming partners.

- BULK SMS Partners
•Identify all unpaid amounts and take appropriate actions to recover receivables from BULK SMS partners.
• Ensure that tasks assigned to SSC India are executed within the required timelines and in accordance with local market requirements• Ensure that tasks assigned to SSC India are executed within the required timelines and in accordance with local market requirements.
• Clearly and accurately label all journal entries recorded in the accounting system.
• Collaborate and actively engage with other departments, particularly Taxation.
• Archive all analyses and reconciliations in an organized manner (smart classification) on SharePoint.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting, preferably in the telecommunications or technology sector.
• Proven experience in revenue accounting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and revenue recognition principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with telecom billing systems and voucher management tools is a plus.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
