In addition this position will assist with taxpayer outreach and education. Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR An advanced degree or Juris Doctorate plus two years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law plus one year of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Occupancy Tax Function Management 40% + Researching and understanding occupancy (hotel/motel) tax in Louisiana that is collected at a state and local level in order to provide guidance to other Commission staff + Working with the Commission’s software company on the development of an Occupancy Tax Return and any system modifications necessary for the Commission to collect and administer the collection of occupancy tax + Developing policies and procedures related to occupancy tax collection Coordination with Commission software developer 40% + Working with the Commission’s software company on overall enhancements and necessary changes for data processing and tax administration – including but not limited to scope development, testing, etc. + Serving as the lead on data system projects and testing projects Taxpayer Education and Outreach 15% + Developing outreach material for taxpayers required to register, file and remit taxes to the Commission + Suggesting and working to implement changes to the Commission’s website to better serve stakeholders Other 5% + Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
