Step into a unique and rewarding role as a Revenue Collection Officer 2 with the Minnesota Department of Revenue. Unlike traditional debt collection positions, this role centers on service, guidance, and education. You’ll help customers navigate their tax responsibilities with empathy and professionalism.
Each day brings variety:
+ Conduct research and review case documentation
+ Process client correspondence
+ Negotiate payment arrangements
+ Handle up to 14 hours of incoming phone calls weekly
We set you up for success with six months of paid training focused on Minnesota tax laws and effective customer service strategies.

_This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Effective June 1, employees living within 50 miles of the office will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. Employees may reside outside the state of Minnesota if they live in a state bordering Minnesota and are within 50 miles of the primary work location._
_Existing employees who were approved to telework from a bordering state and more than 50 miles from their work location before June 1, 2025, may retain this arrangement unless they move farther away._
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ 2 years of customer service experience
+ Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Edge
+ Experience in conflict resolution.
+ Experience in collaborating with teams.
Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated during the interview based on the following:
+ Experience in independent problem solving.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience providing customer service over the phone.
+ Ability to use effective verbal and written communication in a way that is easily understood by various audiences.
+ Experience with Revenue Collection policies and procedures.
+ Ability to understand, apply, and explain laws, regulations, and/or procedural documents.
+ Ability to apply critical thinking when deciding upon multiple options for resolution of a problem.
+ Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
**Physical Requirements**
Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
**Additional Requirements**
Prior to an offer of employment, a background check will be conducted. This will include, but is not limited to checking degrees and licensures, criminal history, and tax filing and payment history. All individual income tax filing and payment obligations must be current prior to interviewing for this position.
