Revenue Coding Specialist - Revenue Cycle

We’re looking for a Revenue Coding Specialist passionate about accuracy, compliance, and process improvement to join our Revenue Cycle team and support coding integrity and charge optimization across our health system.

The Revenue Coding Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring compliant and accurate charge capture, analyzing patient clinical and billing data, and promoting best practices in reimbursement. As a subject matter expert on coding and billing regulations, you'll help resolve denials, optimize processes, and serve as a trusted resource for staff across departments.

What You'll Do:

Review new procedures to determine coverage and reimbursement opportunities

Analyze reimbursement rates and reconcile payments using payer contracts and RVUs

Support denial investigations, identify root causes, and implement prevention strategies

Stay current on coding/billing regulations (LCDs, NCDs, NYS insurance laws, payer policies)

Assist in claim edit resolution to ensure compliant, clean claims are submitted

Maintain proficiency in CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, OPPS, and related coding structures

Collaborate with Finance and IT to troubleshoot revenue-related system issues

Update internal procedural documentation based on regulation or policy changes

Develop and maintain tools for revenue tracking and compliance monitoring

 

What We're Looking For:

Associate’s degree or higher in Healthcare, Finance, Business, Accounting, or equivalent experience required.

AAPC CPC (not CPC-A) and/or AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist credential required. HFMA Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) preferred. 

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in revenue cycle operations, hospital/physician practice reimbursement, and advanced coding required. 8+ years of advanced experience in similar healthcare settings preferred. 

Familiarity with rural hospital payment systems, NYS APG/ARG insurance regulations, charge capture, error management, and audits

A solutions-focused mindset with an eye for compliance and efficiency

Strong analytical and communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environmentCommitment to continuous learning and customer service
