Work Shift

This position works on-site and is not eligible for remote work. The work hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:30 to 11:30 PM; Friday and Saturday from 1:30 to 10:30 PM. Flexibility in shift coverage will be important with University Business needs. Building hours and peek operational needs will dictate the schedule to meet business needs. Flexibility is key for this position. Overtime will be required as necessary.

Purpose

Assist in managing all aspects of the Texas Union Underground, including all retail operations of a student recreation center.

Responsibilities

Hiring and supervising student staff.

Scheduling work shifts.

Monitoring and responding to equipment issues related to the recreation center and Esports Lounge and Arena.

Supervising cash handling operations for the recreation center and Esports Lounge and Arena.

Serving as manager when in the absence of the Senior Retail Manager.

Orders merchandise, conducts monthly inventory, prices merchandise and purchases equipment needed for the specific retail areas.

May develop annual budget and coordinate special sales events.

Performing other duties as assigned by the Senior Retail Manager related to maintaining the recreation center and Esports Lounge and Arena.  

Ability to function independently in the day-to-day activities of the recreation center.

Required Qualifications

Diploma (High School) or GED. Three or more years’ experience in retail, business management, or public relations.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree. More than three years’ experience in in a retail, business management, or public relations. Demonstrated experience with conflict management, effective communications, problem solving, relationship management, customer service.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary

$45,000+ Annually (Depending on qualifications and experience).

Working Conditions

The job location is on site in the Texas Union Underground. Typical retail environment that may require sitting or standing for long periods of time, lifting boxes, climbing stairs and moving equipment.

The candidate selected will be required to pass a criminal background check and as a condition of employment.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
