We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible.
Seeking a dedicated and experienced Teen Respite Provider to add to an existing team of amazing workers. As a respite provider, you will support an older male teen with special needs at his home or in the community. The ideal candidate will provide essential care, companionship, and supervision to ensure the well-being and comfort of the client at all times. CNA certification is preferred, but not required, if the applicant has caregiving experience with special needs kids and/or teens.
Location: Hartland, WI Wage: $18.42 per hour
Schedule: CASUAL/Part Time - Up to 15 hours per month. (Example: a Friday evening or a Saturday day shift)
The Client’s interests: • Special Olympics: basketball, swimming (loves water play) • Enjoys being in the community • Likes walking through stores • IPAD (Thomas the Train, YouTube videos) • Music
Responsibilities: • Provide companionship and supervision at home and on community outings • Provide light personal care • Engage teen in meaningful activities that promote cognition and social interaction • Be mindful of behaviors and redirect when necessary. • Observe and report any changes in the clients' condition to family as needed. • Foster a positive relationship with the client and his family
Skills: • Experience working with people with limited verbal language. • Experience with teens with physical behaviors and the ability to redirect when needed. • Familiar with CPR techniques and emergency response protocols. • Familiar with seizures and how to manage them (teen not having active seizures) • Strong communication and observational skills.
Qualifications: · Authorized to work in the U.S. · Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance · Age 18 or older at start of employment · Must pass a background check
