What You’ll DoAs a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll work under general physician supervision to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders. You’ll deliver advanced respiratory care in adult, pediatric, and neonatal settings while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure exceptional outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnostic Evaluations
Perform pulmonary function testing, sleep studies, and other diagnostic procedures
Collect and analyze arterial blood gases and relevant lab data
Therapeutic Care
Administer medical gas, humidity, and aerosol therapies
Manage artificial airways and airway clearance procedures
Deliver invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
Provide care for vascular catheters and assist with Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS)
Patient Assessment & Monitoring
Conduct physical assessments and interpret diagnostic results
Make therapy recommendations and adjust based on patient response
Perform regular rounds and document progress
Disease & Case Management
Support treatment of acute and chronic respiratory illnesses
Contribute to discharge planning and patient education
Emergency & Critical Care
Respond to Rapid Response and Code Blue events
Deliver care during land and air transports
Equipment & Safety
Ensure proper equipment use, maintenance, and sterilization
Adhere to all infection control and safety guidelines
QualificationsGraduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program with an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care
All levels of experience welcome—from new grads to seasoned professionals
Massachusetts Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) required
CPR certification required; ACLS preferred
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient care skills
