**Respiratory Therapist – Baystate Pulmonary Rehab**
**Location:** Baystate Health – Springfield, MA
**Job Summary**
Baystate Pulmonary Rehab is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. Under general physician supervision, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with cardiopulmonary disorders across adult and pediatric populations. You will perform diagnostic cardiopulmonary evaluations and administer therapeutic treatments to improve patient respiratory health and quality of life.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ **Diagnostic Testing & Precepting:** Independently perform and teach pulmonary function testing and interventional diagnostics.
+ **Therapeutic Care:** Apply medical gas therapy, humidity and aerosol therapy, artificial airway management, and airway clearance techniques.
+ **Patient Assessment:** Conduct physical exams and interpret diagnostic data to assess respiratory status and therapy effectiveness.
+ **Therapy Management:** Monitor patient response, adjust therapies accordingly, perform oxygen rounds, and communicate recommendations to physicians. Ensure proper equipment use and infection control.
+ **Disease Management:** Manage acute and chronic pulmonary diseases with a collaborative, patient-centered approach.
+ **Emergency and Critical Care Support:** Provide assessment and intervention during emergencies and transport, including patient and environmental evaluation.
+ **Safety & Equipment Maintenance:** Adhere to safety protocols, maintain equipment, coordinate repairs, and document maintenance activities.
+ **Education & Precepting:** Educate patients on inhaler technique, medication usage, and adherence. Precept respiratory therapy and nursing students.
+ **Professional Development:** Maintain clinical ladder requirements and work toward specialty certifications. Participate in specialty projects or hospital committees.
**Qualifications**
+ Minimum of **3 years clinical experience** as a Respiratory Therapist
+ Strong knowledge of pulmonary disease states
+ Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
+ Demonstrated ability to educate patients and colleagues effectively
+ Commitment to quality patient care and continuous professional development
