Work Schedule: 

60% FTE, 24 hours/week. 8-hour day shifts scheduled between the hours of 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM, and 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of department.

We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist – Diagnostic to:

Work for an ECMO Center of Excellence and a Level 1 Trauma Center.Perform various testing, such as spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, respiratory muscle forces and impulse oscillometry to help determine the course of treatment, guide medication changes, and clearance for surgery.Provide aerosolized medication, volume expansion, airway clearance techniques, tracheostomy cares and sputum inductions to patients. Educate patients and their family about existing health problems and related therapies, diagnostic tests, oxygen therapy and home equipment. Collaborate with physicians, care team leaders, staff nurses, other caregiving disciplines, and patients/families to develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care for each patient. QualificationsGraduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited School for Respiratory Care RequiredCompletion of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) education course PreferredBachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy PreferredWork ExperienceExperience performing spirometry RequiredExperience performing pulmonary function testing beyond spirometry PreferredLicenses & CertificationsLicensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the State of Wisconsin Upon Hire RequiredBLS/CPR Certified Upon Hire RequiredRegistered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Upon Hire RequiredCertified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) within 1 Year RequiredRegistered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) within 2 Yrs RequiredACLS Certified PreferredNational Asthma Educator certification PreferredOur Commitment to Social Impact and BelongingUW Health is committed to fostering a workplace that creates belonging for everyone and is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer.
