Job Summary

\n

The Respiratory Therapist Assistant performs various technical respiratory therapy treatments under general supervision. This contributes to quality patient care.

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nPerforms various respiratory therapy treatments like PEP, IS, and O2 checks. Provides Incentive Spirometer treatments and oxygen therapy following established procedures.\nUnder general supervision, instructs patients in the use of various treatments in a thorough and professional manner.\nUpdates patient records with all therapies provided, and reports all unusual signs, symptoms, or side effects immediately.\nDocuments all treatments and therapies given, any supplies used and accurately files all corresponding charges.\nPerforms regular cleaning and sterilization of equipment in accordance with established procedures.\nMaintains the proper functioning of oxygen and emergency equipment through daily checks. Notifies staff to order necessary supplies as needed.\nCurrently enrolled in a Respiratory Care program.\n\n

Key Success Factors

\n\nBasic knowledge of Respiratory Care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.\nMust be able to read, write and follow flow chart protocols as appropriate.\nMust be able to communicate thoughts clearly; both orally and in writing.\nAbility to follow established safety, infection control, and isolation procedures at all times.\nBasic computer skills, including but not limited to: data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand-held scanning, and email.\n\n
