SummaryBaystate Health is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Respiratory Equipment Technician to support our Respiratory Care team at Baystate Medical Center on a per diem basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the cleaning, assembly, maintenance, and distribution of respiratory equipment as well as the performance of EKG tracings. Your work will directly support quality patient care by ensuring all respiratory equipment is safe, sterile, and ready for use.

Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & Sterilization:
Thoroughly clean, assemble, and process all respiratory care equipment using proper sterilization procedures. Operate cleaning equipment, such as the pasteurmatic washer, in accordance with guidelines.
Stock Maintenance:
Maintain par levels and cleanliness in equipment and supply storage areas. Ensure adequate availability of oxygen cylinders and other respiratory supplies.
Infection Control:
Follow all body substance and isolation precautions. Ensure clear separation between clean and contaminated areas during equipment processing.
Independent Work:
Work autonomously during assigned shifts with minimal supervision. Respond promptly to pages and equipment needs, keeping the supervisor informed of issues.
Daily Operations Support:
Demonstrate understanding of respiratory care modalities, safety standards, and department procedures. Assist in the documentation and completion of routine oxygen and aerosol equipment checks.
EKG Tracings:
Perform accurate electrocardiograms (EKGs) by applying electrodes and leads appropriately. Respond to STAT EKG calls in accordance with department protocols and complete proper documentation and filing.
Patient Interaction & Professionalism:
Respect patient rights and dignity at all times. Clearly identify yourself and explain procedures to patients. Maintain professionalism with peers, patients, and healthcare staff.

Preferred Work ExperiencePrevious experience in a patient care setting, using medical equipment or having patient contact is preferred.
