The role youll contribute:

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Department Manager and the direct supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT), the Respiratory Care Assistant is responsible for providing Respiratory Care Services in accordance with specific physician's orders, department policies and procedures. The RCA is only allowed to perform procedures covered in class.

The value youll bring to the team:

Provide respiratory services in accordance with specific physicians orders, department policies and procedures.

Maintain knowledge of the various methods of oxygen delivery, including the necessary equipment. Remain alert, assesses possible side effects to oxygen therapy.

Administer respiratory therapy treatments, understand the purpose of each and the possible side effects associated with each.

Assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.

Perform arterial punctures to obtain and analyzes arterial blood samples for blood gas analysis, and understand the possible complications and contraindications associated with the procedure.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed:

High School Grad or Equivalent Completed the first year and is currently enrolled in a two-year approved Respiratory Therapy Program. This employee must stay enrolled in school or their license will be revoked and employment be terminated. Required

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Required

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Required

Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) North Carolina Required

Current License with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board. Upon Hire Required
