Salary: £24,300.07 per annum

Location: Telford

Contract/Hours: Permanent/Full Time – 37 hours per week

A bit about the role

Our Residential Support Workers create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop. We are looking for committed, caring Residential Support Workers to work flexibly and provide high quality day-to-day care to our children and young people. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering person centred care, guidance and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and are encouraged to reach their full potential.

About the service

Acorn Way is an exciting new residential care home providing accommodation and support for 4 Children and Young People between the ages of 5-18 years of both physical and learning disabilities. As residential support worker you may be asked to sleep in on occasion and you can earn an extra £50 for each one.

This new home will provide warm, caring and comfortable environment where our young people will feel safe and free to gain a sense of their own self.  Supported in developing skills and achieve maximum quality of life.

Our residential support workers will work within a team that provides person centred care and tailored support to each child, meeting their individual needs in accordance with their care plan.  You will also ensure that policies and essential standards or quality and safety are achieved.

How you'll help to create brighter futures 

Providing essential support to children and young people within our residential homeCreate a safe and nurturing environment to foster their independence Engaging in diverse day-to-day activities tailored to the needs of the young person Assisting with household tasks like cooking and cleaning Supporting learning and homework completion Building trust and responsibility to accompany our young people to activities and appointments May be required to write reports to assist with meetingsLead by example with the application of Action for Children's policy procedures and professional practice standards and in line with registration requirements.

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:  

Experience of working in a Residential care settingLevel 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) is preferred but not essential but willingness to work towards it Experience and training in safeguardingAn innovative and creative approach to problem solvingKnowledge of completing and updating & developing tailored care plansThe ability to create a safe and fun environment for both staff and children in the home and in the community.
