General Purpose
The primary purpose of the Residential Accountant is to maintain accurate books and records for a portfolio of multi-family properties. The accountant is responsible for issuing financial statements timely and accurately in accordance with the accounting policies and procedures.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for the full cycle accounting and month-end close for multiple properties, including general ledger account analysis and balance sheet account reconciliations.Prepare and review journal entries for month-end close, including accruals, reclasses, amortization, capitalization, and adjusting entries.Analyze budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents to research and resolve discrepancies as necessary.Perform interim and month-end bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items promptly.Regular GL scrub for inconsistencies, based on review and analysis record reclassifying entries as necessary.Analyze property cash position weekly, collaborating with property management team to review and select payables.Ensure timely and accurate payment of high-priority payments such as taxes, mortgages, and distributions. Analyze, reconcile, and track property insurance claims timely and accurately.
Prepare monthly financial reporting packets according to management/owner requirements and deadlines.Ensure all documentation, such as bank transfer request and journal entry support, is prepared, organized, and stored in accordance with company policy.Collaborate with the property management team to analyze tenant/owner ledgers, research and resolve questions.Key contributor to the analysis and variance explanations for the financial statements.Assist with year-end audits by preparing workpapers, recording audit entries, and verifying financials. Coordinate with the property management team to gather necessary information.Compile data and perform analysis to contribute to the preparation of the annual property budget.Identify opportunities for automation to streamline accounting and reporting processes.Prioritize exceptional customer service and maintain professionalism in all interactions.Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.§ Comply with company policies, accounting procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.

RequirementsExperience:
Minimum of 1 - 3 years accounting experience in financial reportingReal estate accounting experience strongly desiredExperience with Yardi is highly desiredExperience in cash managementEducation:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required from an accredited four-year college or university
Salary Description $65,000-$75,000
