Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Resident Engineer for immediate employment in Orange, CA.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Oversee and manage the construction management staff on highway-related projects.Ensure successful delivery of the project, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.Implement and enforce project plans and specifications.Serve as the main point of contact for the client, maintaining clear and consistent communication.Coordinate with various stakeholders, including contractors, subcontractors, and government agencies.Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.Review and approve project submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders.Manage project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and as-built drawings.Facilitate and lead project meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders.Monitor and report on project progress, identifying potential issues and proposing solutions.Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and mitigation measures.Oversee quality control and quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle.Manage project budgets, including tracking costs and forecasting expenses.Coordinate with utility companies for any required relocations or adjustments.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 10 years or more of relatable or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

California PE License 

Preferred Qualifications

Highway widening experience 

Experience as Construction Manager or Resident Engineer on public works highway projects with construction value $40M+

Experience working with Caltrans, OCTA, SBCTA, RCTC, RCTD, SANDAG, and/or LA Metro

Excellent Communication Skills 

Experience overseeing a project staff

Strong understanding of Caltrans standards and Specifications 

Experience writing and negotiating change orders

Experience with dispute resolution and claims 

Structures background 

Tolling Experience 

Existing relationships with transportation entities in Southern California delivering highway projects 

Technical writing skills 

Experience in pursuit interviews as key staff
