The Resident Director is a member of the professional live-in Residence Life staff at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. The Resident Director will be responsible for the overall management of 1 - 2 residence halls on campus, and will support the Housing department and University in its mission, goals and policies. The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg residence halls have 100 - 125 beds each.
Oversees and manages the University’s residential facilities, residence life educational programs, residentially-based academic communities, residence life student and professional staff, and all promotional communications for the department. Ensures the safety and security of residents and development of the departmental comprehensive emergency management plan. Facilitates operational decisions within broadly defined parameters that require a high level of judgement. Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy, and policies of the department. Performs budgetary functions.

In order to provide a high level of coverage and support for our students across multiple residential communities, the Resident Director will be responsible for or share responsibilities for the following:
Assisting the students and establishing regular office hours (approx. 20 hours/week);Managing roommate and/or staff conflicts in their assigned residence hall;Enforcing residence hall policies and procedures fairly;Overseeing daily operations of assigned residence hall, working in conjunction with Student Life and Success, Facilities Management and campus police to ensure a safe environment in the residence halls;Participating in professional staff’s on-call/duty rotation and responding to concerns as they arise;Developing community building and educational programs/initiatives as part of the department’s residential curriculum;Assisting the Director with Community Assistant (CA) recruitment, selection, and training, housing procedures, and the opening/closing of residence halls at the beginning/end of each semester and scheduled break periods;Serving as an advisor/co-advisor to departmental-related organizations; serving as a liaison to student organizations, and helping to staff evening and weekend programs;Creating content and consistent messaging for communications and programs;Designing, developing and implementing assessments and/or surveys; reviewing and recommending changes and improvements;Assisting with summer residence life activities;Planning and implementation of student activities, orientation programs, and leadership development initiatives;Supporting and overseeing a staff of 4 - 8 Community Assistants (CAs) in the areas of programming, supervision, and personal/professional development;Coordinating Community Assistant (CA) recruitment and training;Meeting with students and conducting student conduct hearings;Supervising undergraduate student staff;Managing daily housing operations such as room assignments and occupancy processes;Overseeing community development programming.
