DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to Lead Engineer, Subsurface Engineering, this position will support the continued optimization of the existing underground storage reservoirs and the pursuit of business development opportunities in underground gas storage. This role requires diverse knowledge in reservoir engineering and geology. This role will interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, and is expected to consistently demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills. Experience in gas storage, hydrogen and CCUS is desirable.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Identify, assess and recommend strategies for gas storage optimization and expansion.
• Develop and implement field development plans for both existing and new fields.
• Identify key reservoir uncertainties and provide recommendations to mitigate risks.
• Develop and implement reservoir management plans to maximize storage capacity and deliverability.
• Assess the impacts of operational changes on reservoir performance and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Conduct reservoir geological characterization using well logs, seismic data and production data.
• Conduct material balance analysis and inventory reconciliation every quarter.
• Conduct well test interpretations to identify potential production issues.
• Conduct reservoir simulations to forecast gas storage deliverability.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Petroleum engineering (P.Eng). Master’s degree is preferred.
• 4-8 years of experience in reservoir engineering.
• Competency in reservoir simulation.
• Exposure to GasMod and T-navigator is desirable.
• Ability to effectively interface with all levels within the company, and work effectively in cross-functional team environment.
• Ability to function independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong aptitude in excel and programming.
• Knowledge and experience in well integrity and ISO16530 is a bonus.
• Well-developed interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Flexibility, initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to work as an effective team member.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to prioritize conflicting demands.
