Researcher, Beijing Bureau
Reuters is looking for an energetic Researcher with strong news judgement to join our team in Beijing. The Beijing Researcher will be responsible for researching and monitoring news stories, assisting news coverage in the field and learning the ropes of text and video news production.
We are looking for a researcher who has excellent news judgement, is a great team player and is adept with research that can inform breaking news to longer-form pieces, and also has the understanding of what makes a compelling visuals story for Reuters.
We are looking for someone who is a highly motivated self-starter who has a grounding in quantitative research, able to identify and work with large data sets to inform our reporting. That includes the ability to work with databases and other analytical tools, including AI.

About the Role
In this opportunity as Researcher, Beijing Bureau, you will:
Monitor and highlight daily news coverage on Chinese media and social mediaWork closely with the Reuters bureau, contributing to breaking news coverage, contacting potential interviewees and help sourcing third-party content when required.Conduct in-depth research to conceptualise story ideas that can be developed into deeply reported and nuanced text and visual stories.Collaborate with colleagues across Reuters operations in China, including bureaux in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
