Job Summary

The Bauer Research Group (https://www.kwbauer.sph.umich.edu/) in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Public Health seeks to hire one (1) full-time Research Assistant (RA) to support community-based research studies focused on understanding family influences on children's nutrition and growth. The RA will primarily be responsible for conducting study activities, including recruiting families, screening families for study eligibility, obtaining informed consent, conducting in-person data collection, coordinating participant compensation, conducting data reviews, and other study-related tasks.

The RA is expected to work collaboratively with team members to conduct study activities professionally, respectfully, and precisely. Successful candidates will be reliable, conscientious, organized, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Study visits may occur in our research lab on the Ann Arbor campus, the University of Michigan's Detroit Center (midtown Detroit), participants' homes, or at community locations within a 1-hour drive from Ann Arbor. The positions require flexibility according to families' schedules. This position therefore, requires moderate flexibility to work up to 3 evenings a week or on weekends. However, the RA will never be expected to work more than 40 hours/week.

The RA will be supervised by the Study Coordinator and is expected to contribute to a positive team environment, providing and receiving feedback to ensure that study processes are effective and efficient. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

This is a 1-year term-limited position. It may be renewed for subsequent years contingent on performance and the availability of funding. Term-limited employees are not eligible for RIF benefits.

Background Screening
