Job Summary

The Cognition and Emotion Neuroscience Lab (CENSL) was incepted in 2012 under the direction of Sarah Keedy, PhD., Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago. The overarching mission of CENSL is two-fold: 1) To identify and seek remedy for neurocognitive alterations associated with psychiatric conditions, with particular emphasis on psychotic disorders and on effects of substances of abuse; 2) To support Dr. Keedy's role as a collaborator to other scientists seeking her neurocognitive expertise.

The Laboratory Coordinator will function within a clinical laboratory conducting human research. Studies are observational as well as interventional. The Lab Coordinator will assist the Principal Investigator and Study Coordinators in overseeing and coordinating laboratory operations and personnel. Strong research administrative, problem-solving, and organizational skills required. Database experience in Redcap preferred. Also required is the ability to train and supervise others, and generally perform duties within a collaborative academic environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct research protocols: (test participants in experimental sessions, perform telephone and in-person screening interviews and eligibility determination, assist with database management, oversee staff on research progress, pacing).

Perform administrative duties: (supply inventory, procurement, organization, biological sample storage, shipping, contracts, submission of expenses and post-award management, and webinars).

Organize special projects management (assist with grant submissions, manuscripts, graphical output, mass mailings for retention in studies).

Maintains technical, administrative, and regulatory support for a research project.

Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens.

Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

Supports recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assists with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assists with building and maintaining databases; and providing general administrative support. Has general awareness in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.

Manage day-to-day operations: (organize and lead team meetings, coordinate laboratory physical space and electronic files, coordinate with administrative, support and grant staff on communications, take responsibility of protocols for safety, assist with new staff onboarding and human resources, manage time approvals).

May assist recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Is developing skills in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.

Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.

Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
